Wayde is Getting Glasses
In the last few months, Wayde has been complaining about headaches in school. The School Nurse gave her an eye exam and graded her at 20/50. So Jamie took her to the doctor who diagnosed her with an astigmatism. She got to pick out frames and was measured for glasses. She will have them in about a week, and I will post pictures as soon she gets them.
Wayde is very excited about her birthday tomorrow, and so does Chayce for Saturday. They are both taking cakes to school as well as getting one each for home. Happy Birthday girls!
Anca is so smart!
Anca is so smart! The other night when we were getting ready for bed I laid down with her, waiting for Jamie to come in. Anca looked down at my chest and starting flicking my nipple, and said: “na, Dada” (na is what she has been saying when she wants to nurse, therefore identifying my nipple for what it is). I said: “is that Daddy’s nurse?” Anca said: “yeah.” She is so smart! she knew exactly what she was dealing with. What a smarty!
Our kids and church
I am so proud of our kids and the way they love going to church. Yesterday Wayde asked Jamie if we we’re going to Tuesday church. But because of the holiday they didn’t have it. Wayde was quite bummed that she didn’t get to go. Isn’t it a blessing when you’re kids are hungry for the Lord?
Happy New Year!
Wow, what a great New Year’s Eve we had! For the second year in a row we went with our church (Vertical View) to a local hotel for a fantastic New Year’s Eve bash. We gathered in the meeting room about 6 for tons of food and fellowship, including impinadas, chili, chicken strips, salads, and lots of other dishes people brought.
Then we changed and went to the pool. The three older ones jumped around and splashed in the pool and big hot tub along with about a dozen other kids. I played games with them, held Anca in the water for a while so she could look around and splash, and took some time in the sauna.
After a couple hours getting wet we dried off and went back to the meeting room and lobby for games and such. Some of the kids did crafts, while some of the older kids played Guitar Hero on a small TV or Wii Sports on the hotel’s big lobby TV! I was so happy that they let us do that, as it let lots of different people try out some of the games. Jamie and I tried boxing (I knocked her out in the second round) and then bowling, which was her turn to beat me. We also had people playing board games, group party games (Scrambled Eggs is our favorite) and some Christian Karaoke.
At midnight we gathered around the big TV to watch the ball drop, then gathered for a group picture, during which I hurt my knee trying to go over a chair.
We then finished up the night doing some line dancing (including a new move called the Russ which involves falling over and grabbing your knee) and cleaning up before turning in. This morning, we enjoyed the hotel’s continental breakfast before cleaning up the room and letting the kids use the pool before going home.
It was a great night, spent with wonderful people, all of which I consider great friends. The kids had a great time and were really good the whole time. It was a really nice time of family and church bonding.
